Needs citation
[edit]A trivial element of the article, maybe, but is there a citation for "The family farm in Heiligenhaus, Mettmann, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, is still named "Großsteinbeck."?
The citation given for Steinbeck writing to his doctor about his physical death being the end of his life is not correct. This source does not include anything about this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TobyDaniels (talk • contribs) 21:51, 26 August 2022 (UTC)
I am unable to create a footnote and a reference for technical reasons, but the information following note 72 about KGB documents from its old Kyiv office (recently opened for public use by the Security Service of Ukraine) is taken from an article by Eduard Andryushchenko and Robert Coalson published on the Radio Free Europe website. Steinbeck and Thompson Sub-machine gun?
[edit]Where did this nonsense come from? Steinbeck said categorically in his ‘Once There Was a War’ that he was a correspondent and ‘certainly did not fight’. Has his report of the capture by a handful paratroopers of the islet of Ventotene been inflated into this fiction?
Photograph date error
[edit]it is stated in the photograph description of john and Elaine as being 1950 but on inspection of the back of the photo is dated 1963 which would closer resemble their appearance than their 1950 ages....a small error but yet another "protected" (locked in other words) page which severely and hypocritically undermines wikipedias supposed "anyone can edit" status/policy 2A01:4C8:46D:B7DF:1:2:25AA:BDCC (talk) 01:08, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- Please provide a source so we too can see the back of the photo. If you're right, we'll fix it.
- We use semi-protection to stop vandals, so it's necessary on a major article like this one, and any experienced (a very low bar) editor can still edit the article. -- Valjean (talk) (PING me) 01:26, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, I just wanted to write about the same error. The photo was actually made on No 17, 1962. Please add more eon Frederick Steinbeck
[edit]Text mentions that Fredrick Steinbeck was killed, but we should try and complete the story. Arab marauders also raped his wife Marie and her mother Sarah Dickson in the same event. 2603:7000:75F0:1680:C0A5:432E:BCDD:679 (talk) 12:37, 19 October 2023 (UTC)

In the WWII section, it says Steinbeck was injured by shrapnel, but there is no source. This information should be cited appropriately. Here is a reliable source for this claim:
Please add this reference to the article. Matthew Kollmer (talk) 16:51, 17 January 2024 (UTC)

In the biography section, calling his grandparents messianic is speculative at best and definitely hate speech. Either provide relevant and factual statements pertaining to their messianic (waiting for the messiah) nature or change the verbiage. Noam vardy (talk) 05:30, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
